The findings of a recent survey, by Manpower, on the complexities of an interdependent relationship between emerging mindset - of the young generation employees - and traditional management approach - of the leaders - subtly indicate the possibility a strained relationship - between the leaders and the followers - in workplace, in near future: Employees willing to leverage the power of networking in workplace, and leaders cutting those off forcefully. According to another survey report: Globally 75% of the employers don't yet have a formal social media policy in place, and that's a huge number. Well, this information didn't really surprise me, and in fact, it wouldn't anyone using linkedin extensively. Why? Just count the number of active participants from corporates - Sr. Management - you normally come across, during your interactions there. Am I right? I think, leadership should look into this issue immediately and ensure a perfect alignment of the business, with the need of the hour: Social Media Engagement!! According to NASA's recent release, "NASA and General Motors are working together to accelerate development of the next generation of robots and related technologies for use in the automotive and aerospace industries." "The partnership's vision is to explore advanced robots working together in harmony with people, building better, higher quality vehicles in a safer, more competitive manufacturing environment," said Alan Taub, GM's vice president for global research and development. Robots, as such, are nothing new to automobile industry, but most of them are a series of mechanical arms or wheels with built-in tools and sensors. This Robonaut2; however, is a technologically advanced version capable of lifting 20 pounds with each arms -- 4 times higher than any other robots. Although, the current focus is on space and automobile applications, but I am sure, very soon the concept will spread to other industries as well.
